Fans and players at East Surry High School will soon be able to enjoy a new concession stand to benefit baseball, softball, and tennis games. This field house and concession stand has been in planning for several years. Hayco Construction is proud to have been selected to complete this project, which broke ground earlier this year.
East Surry High School
East Surry has always had limited space for its sports programs, which has forced tennis, softball, and baseball players to play across the street from campus, on the other side of Old U.S. 52. Fans and players had to access a port-a-potty past the right-field fence or make a long trek to the Armfield Civic Center or East Surry’s current concession stand. Fans who wanted access to snacks and drinks during a baseball game have been forced to navigate two steep hills to access the concessions stand, a path that isn’t handicap accessible.
New Fieldhouse and Concession Stand
The new fieldhouse building will be located on the grassy hilltop above the home side of the softball field, just outside the baseball field fence. This location will be much more convenient to baseball and softball fans and players. The current softball concession stand will be repurposed for other uses.
The new 48×24’ building will be just under 2,000 square feet and will feature a new concession stand, bathrooms, and both male and female locker rooms. There will also be an additional storage room with space set aside for a washer and dryer that will allow coaches to clean uniforms on site.
Coaches at East Surry are excited for this new building, which they say will tie together several sports and provide a place for teams to change and store their equipment. Fans will be pleased with the accessible restrooms and more convenient concessions.
